Comment on Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj's op-ed, "As the Troops Enter, We Fear the Worst."

Thank you for publishing this. Dr. El-Sarraj is absolutely correct when he says that the grievances of the Palestinians must be addressed. The root of the problem goes back to 1948 when Zionists destroyed and depopulated over five hundred Palestinian villages and towns. Most of the people in southern Israel are living upon the ruins of the villages and lands once cultivated and inhabited by the people in Gaza and their descendents. Not only does Israel refuse to implement Article 13, Section 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which ensures everyone's right to return to one's home, Israel continues to wreak havoc upon the rightful owners of its stolen lands.
