Questions for Political Zionists
My letter in response to this editorial was published today in the Los Angeles Times.
Daniel Jonah Goldhagen, who has made a career for himself as an Islamophobe and critic of the Catholic Church, writes about Benedict's Auschwitz visit (Opinion, May 31): "Benedict's appeal to the mysteries of God's ways thus obscured even the most discussed aspects of the church's and [Pope] Pius XII's conduct during the Holocaust: Why they didn't speak out. Why they didn't do more to help Jews.' "
These are questions one might ask of those Jews who have embraced the ideology of political Zionism at the expense of Palestine's indigenous population.
